Como é que se diz isto em Italiano? Benvenuto

should this bad boss say Benvenuto? how do you say welcome phrase if the gender is unknown?

If the gender is unknown you usually use the masculine form.
However, it is "benvenuto" for males and "benvenuta" for females.

so then, if a femle selected, this bad boss said Benvenuto toward a female in front of him.

how do you feel this situation? unnatural speaking? or bad translation? or the boss should thought this pretty girl as a male? or not so rarely situation also in real life? or...?

@hinative_user well, if this boss has a female in front of him, then I would think of using the masculine form as a joke or something, but that would be very nice... Unless he couldn't actually recognise her as a female.

i see... for example, (io) accolgo te can be a gender-unknown welcome phrase in such first meeting? or it is a unnatural (uncommon, literary, not speeking) phrase?

@hinative_user saying "(io) ti accolgo" would be so unnatural. It is not wrong and grammatically correct, but people don't say "(io) ti accolgo (somewhere)", it would sound weird.
"Benvenuto/a" instead is a lot more common and doesn't sound weird.
You could eventually use the plural form if there's a group of people "benvenuti".

va bene, ho capito. this is irregular situation and a feature of interactive media. the boss must say welcome to a person which gender is not decided when he says welcome. current time and future time stay together in this place.
i'll use Benvenuto. ti ringrazio moltissimo.
