@tjstkdn If you called an ornament a goody, it would have a connotation of "This is a coveted posession of mine." If you called an ornament a knick-knack, it would have a connotation of "This is a random object I have in my house." To be honest, I've never heard an item referred to as a "goody" if it isn't food (and I'm a native English speaker in the US).

Goodies ----> Usually food. Something you desire.
Knickknacks ----> Unimportant and cheap. Usually random objects.

@jkb100 is there usually no attatchment to 'knickknacks'?? is it just useless unneeded stuff?
- Inglês (EUA)
@tjstkdn There is usually no attachment, you are correct. It isn't always useless, but it means there isn't any attachment. For example, a "Christmas ornament" would be a knick-knack.

@tjstkdn That's a good question. I think pottery could be a knick-knack. I searched online for an answer and most definitions desribe it as something small. So to answer your question - yes.
