Why do you write マンガ and not まんが? Is «manga» a foreign word? Are there other words that foreigner thought japanese with a katakana writing? どぞ　ありがとう　ございます

漫画 (manga - the word "manga" comes from the Japanese word 漫画, composed of the two kanji 漫 (man) meaning "whimsical or impromptu" and 画 (ga) meaning "pictures".) Manga = Japanese word. All forms are correct.

漫画(in kanji). This is a Japanese word. Sometimes, it is written in kanji, but the kanji "漫" is not so commonly used, and "まんが" or "マンガ" is easier to write than "漫画". And, sentence which is all written in hiragana has less readability, like "englishsentencewithoutanyspace(English sentence without any space)".

Thank you. I understand now. Books usually just say katakana is for foreign words to make it easier. Now that I know it can be used for emphasis it seems clearer.

Katakana is also used for Japanese words that have difficult kanji especially animals or plants.
河馬 カバ
麒麟 キリン
桔梗 キキョウ

Also, when a word is thought as a pop word it would be written in katakana.
I think manga is this case.
