@Sparrow0507 It is difficult to explain as it has a couple of different meanings. However, it's main use it to refer to what has just happened.
1 example of this could be like..
Person 1: That picture is really beautiful!
Person 2: You know what, you're right!
This time, when you say 'you know what', imagine the word 'what' is the sentence person 1 just said.
So imagine what you really said was 'You know that sentence you just said, you're right!'
Another way this phrase can be said is to point out the obvious.
Example -
Your son has just pushed his sister over. You then shout at him and say 'Stop!'. He looks at you with an innocent face and says 'What?' (He is asking what he has done wrong). You can then reply to him with 'You know what!' (You are saying to him 'You know what you have done wrong!').
Sorry if this doesn't help. It is a difficult phrase to explain vis text 😅
Just remember, if the phrase 'you know what' is used in a sentence it is referring to what has just happened' (You know what, that sunset was beautiful.)
If someone says 'you know what' on it's own, it means you already know the answer.

Thank you! Very easy to understand!
Can "you know what" be used when we start talking to someone, bring up a subject?
For example,
A: Hey Joe, you know what? He decided to quit the school.
B: What? It’s only 3 months left until our graduation.

Yes. Although if you are bringing up an old subject, you would usually add a little more to the sentence to help remind them.
Example:
A: Hey Joe, you know what he did?
He decided to quit school.
You can also say it ask a joke between friends.
Example:
A: Hey Joe, you know what?
You smell.
B: Hey Tom, you know what?
I don't care.
For a rough idea, think of anything that is continuous (or is happening around you and the person you are talking to) and future tense. In these cases you can say 'you know what, that dog is crazy!', 'you know what, i'm going to go on holiday.'.
If you are talking about the past you usually add a little more detail to the phrase 'you know what i did?' 'You know where i went?'
:)
