Strange Dialogue Translation Question (Again)
I am currently trying to translate a segment from an episode of a TV show so that I can dub over it in Chinese. It is a comedy show called “The Eric Andre Show,” and Eric Andre is the show host, and he invites celebrity guests in and asks them bizarre questions and plays pranks on them.
I am looking at a segment of Eric’s interview with Jack McBrayer. In this segment, Eric has a stagehand bring out food for him and Jack, but the snacks are some unidentifiable, powdery gray cubes. Eric starts eating the mysterious food. This is the dialogue that follows.
Hannibal (Eric’s Cohost): The hell is that? Eric…?
Jack: Do you know what that is?
Eric: You know what they say: If it’s gray, it’s healthy for you.
Jack: No one has ever said that.
Hannibal: The only gray thing you can eat that’ll be healthy for you is uhhh… I think seal meat…
Jack: What is that? Do you know?
Eric: It’s like a… It’s like some type of, like… uhhh… gray food, or something.

Things in parenthesis still need to be translated. Would anyone be able to help translate and check what I already have?
Hannibal:Eric,这到底是什么?
Jack:你知道那是什么呢?
Eric:(You know what they say: )如果是灰色的,吃对你身体很健康。
Jack:没有人这样说过。
Hannibal:(The only gray thing you can eat that’ll be healthy for you is uhhh… I think seal meat…)
Jack:那是什么?你知不知道?
Eric:(It’s like a… It’s like some type of, like… uhhh… gray food, or something.)
Some additional relevant notes:
- In the rest of the script, I have been using “嗯” and “那个……” for all of the “uhhh”s and “umm”s.
- “You know what they say” is an English phrase used to introduce a common saying or common belief. Here, it is being used comedically because what Eric says afterwards is total nonsense.
- The video of the interview I am translating can be found here: https://youtu.be/gPU4ccgiDS0
Thank you!

@GaoShanArt No problem :)
你可以吃的灰色东西里 means "AMONG the gray things that you can eat". I used this structure because Chinese attributes are always put before the noun they modify, and there are just too many attributes (你可以吃的,灰色的, and 有利于健康的) here, which are not even parallel (I mean describing things in the same dimension, such as "tall, fat, and dark-haired"). So I used "(在)...里" to make it sound more natural.
As for the other questions:
1) Literally, 这是我真正的声音 or 我真正的声音是这样的. To create a more scary effect, maybe 这才是我的声音 or 叫你听听我本来的声音 (preferably followed by things like "hahaha").
2) 你从来不听别人说话!这就是问题所在,杰克!你根本不听,知道吗?我是个很好的倾听者。你可以向我学习,知道吗?
3) 嘿,我们暂停一秒好吗?杰克的麦克风松了。等一秒钟就好。
4) 是不是插头掉了?or 插头掉了吗?
Let me know if there are any follow-up questions :)

Hannibal:Eric,这到底是什么?
Jack:你知道那是什么吗?
Eric:(有人曾经说过:)如果是灰色的食物,吃起来对你身体健康有帮助。
Jack:没有人这样说过。
Hannibal:(你能吃的唯一的对你健康有帮助的灰色食物是…呃…我想是海豹的肉)
Jack:那是什么?你知不知道?
Eric:(这像是…这像是某种…像…呃… 灰色食物, 或者别的什么.)
notes: you can translate "uhhh" into "呃“

Hannibal: (这是)什么鬼东西? Eric…?
Jack: 你知道那是什么吗?
Eric: 你知道,人们常说: 灰色的东西有利于健康。
Jack: 没有人这样说过。
Hannibal: 你可以吃的灰色东西里唯一一种有利于健康的是......嗯,我想,是海豹肉。

Eric: 它就像是......像是一种,那个那个.....灰色料理之类的....

@ChinglishTeadent @Armariris Thank you both!
@ChinglishTeadent In your fifth line, where Hannibal talks about the seal meat, is the character “里” supposed to be there? It seems oddly placed to me, but that may be because I am not familiar with the structure of this sentence. Maybe “你可以吃的灰色东西里……” translates to something like “In the realm of gray things you can eat…”? Is that what’s being said here?
Could I trouble you guys to help me translate a few more lines? Here are a few that I’ve been able to make no headway on translating:
1) Hannibal tries to scare Jack by shouting at him in a low, gravelly voice. How can I translate “This is what my real voice sounds like.”
2) Eric suddenly gets angry at Jack for no reason. He says “You don’t listen! That’s the problem, Jack! You don’t listen, okay? I’m a very good listener. You could learn from me, okay?”
So far, I have “你不会听,这就是问题,Jack!你不会听,懂了吧?我听得很好。” so I really only need the “You could learn from me, okay?” part.
3) Someone off-camera briefly stops the interview, saying through a megaphone “Hey, can we pause one second? Jack’s microphone came loose. Just pause one second.” How can I translate this?
4) When a stagehand comes to fix Jack’s microphone, Jack asks “Did it come unplugged?”. How can I translate this?
Thank you in advance for any help!
