Hello. I came up with this sentence and I wanted to find out whether it sounds correct or not to you guys. What do you think?

I think it sounds perfect, I wouldn't change a single word. Very natural, casual English.

@OscarGacitua Either phrase sounds completely natural, and fits perfectly into your context. But I've said it a few times to myself now, and I think I also prefer "... it took me a while to get over it, ...". Other native speakers may choose the other phrase, they're both 100% correct!
