I've come up with a phrasal verb - Piece (something) apart. Can it be used? Is it viable?

For example:
Let's piece this psychological topic apart.
(means : Let's discuss about this topic, Let's take it apart and consider it in the details)

It doesn’t work, sorry. It just doesn’t make any sense.

We already say – let’s break this down (let’s consider the fine details of something ) or, let’s put this under the microscope

New phrases and expressions only become part of the language after a large section of the community has recognised and accepted them.

I suggest that you continue to learn how English actually works, before you start inventing.

@isthmus_x "Let's break this down" - awesome expression!!! Why nobody gave me this when I was asking how to say (Let's parse the video/topic, Let's dissect the video/topic, Let's take it apart, Let's view it, Let's overview it, Let's review it... omg so many expressions I've got through) but this one is perfectly match for what I want to say (discuss something or consider something in the details)

Let me tell you a little story about how – break it down – became a part of the English phraseology

During the Second World War, black American soldiers worked and fought alongside white Americans for the first time in history. Much of the equipment in warfare is Modula – it can be broken apart, stored, and put back together in various ways.

The common army command to “break it down“ entered the lexicon of these men, who brought it back to America as a basic expression. But back in America, they were again treated as second-class citizen‘s – so, the expression started to be used in black music. You could hear singers instructing the band to – break it down - to strip the sound back to its basics of drums and bass, and then to bring the instruments back in.

This expression became widely known through recordings of black music. Suddenly, without anybody realising that it happened, everybody was using it.

This is the kind of journey that an expression needs to go through before it is legitimised as a true part of speech.

@isthmus_x Can you show me how "Modula" looks like (I've been googling but I'm not sure is it a weapon or kinda compact tent/house)
It gave me even more perfect comprehension of this expression, and it really ideally reflects what I want to say when I'm talking about "break down the topic/some interesting moment of psychology or science or astronomy/some video in YouTube/some rules or phrasal verbs in English/anything that in Russian I says "разобрать" which directly might be translated as "dismantle/take into pieces/take apart"

Modular- The spellcheck changed it for some reason – you should be able to easily find out the meaning of Modula
