Both are perfectly understandable and seem fine grammatically. From my perspective, it might be slightly more natural in many contexts to say:

"He was there continuously for two hours."
"He played the game continuously for two hours."

If you use the word ordering in the question, then I feel like there is a strong emphasis on the time taken. If that is your intention, then the sentences are fine as is.
