A myth is either
A. a belief that is widely thought to be true, but isn’t.
Example: it’s a myth that the Great Wall of China is visible from space.
B. A legend or traditional story. Usually they’re magical in some way.
Example:The Greek gods and goddesses are called myths.
A rumor is an unproven idea.
Example: I heard a rumor that Sarah is pregnant.
The difference is rumors are about something that’s happening right now, but a myth is usually extremely old.
