It's correct that the article use 'a' not 'the'
Because when something is mentioned for the first time, it'll be 'a'. If that thing is mentioned again, then it should be 'the'
Example:
- A parcel just arrived this morning. The parcel seems to be in good condition.
Notice the usage of 'a' and 'the'
