O que significa Just as clearly, it is not the target language system that would have been evidenced had native speakers of the target language tried to express those same things. I didn't understand the meaning of the modal verb "would have been pp". Could you explain ?

@mervekrt1997 this discussion is considering a phrase spoken by native speakers and stating a ‘definite’ situation so “would” is used here. If it was just a’possible’ answer then “could” is the word to use. So the text is saying that the way of saying those things as spoken by a native speaker is definitely not showing evidence of the target language system.
