Pergunta sobre Inglês (Reino Unido)
'Yokota and his wife Sakie, along with seven other families of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korean agents, formed a group in March 1997.'
In this sentence, when you say ' families (of Japanese citizens) abducted by North Korean agents', doesn't that mean these families were abducted? I thought it should be 'families whose child or sibling were abducted' because the ones who were taken away are not these people who formed a group but their children or siblings.
Or is it possible to say 'This family was abducted' when you want to say 'a member of this family was taken away'?

@cuppatea "seven other families of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korean agents"
These are the families of the people who were abducted.
You could use "whose" to clarify it, but this "of" would usually be understood.
"The people in the front row were the families of the actors."

No, it doesn't work like that. 😊

@Igirisujin Thank you! Now I understand where I made a mistake. I thought 'seven other families of Japanese citizens' meant 'seven other families of Japanese nationality' or 'seven other Japanese families'. That was the mistake.
