@spenc41 Actually 'I had been taught' is a completed action in the past. Someone has already taught you.
I had taught is also past completed tense that I was the one teaching.
I had been taught to ride a horse when I was a child. Though a bit worried, I found that I had remembered, not only how to ride, but how to put the horse through some of his paces.
I had taught programming logic for years before I found out this much easier method of teaching.

I kept trying to think of ways to explain it without using “taught” in the sentence, but thank you for providing a better explanation. @DanielDeik

Could you explain what’s the difference between back in the days vs back in the day?
Thanks
Thanks

@sangsong In this case, you would just say "I taught kid's piano back in the day."
Note the apostrophe for kid's to show possession, no 'had', and as @spenc41 said, 'day', not 'days'.

@sangsong Interesting question. With the 'the' it needs to be singular. But it is also an idiomatic expression 'back in the day.'
You could say, "I studied music at Julliard for 5 years. Back in those days I taught kid's piano."

Does that means one time teaching?
I was trying to say during certain period.
Like as 2008-2012

No, it does not mean just one time. It would work for a time period.
For example, "Back in the day, Korean wood-carving was the best in the world."
