Hi, I am reading an article and need help.

"And when "prestige" TV rolled around, David Chase's Sopranos blackout became the stuff of many a hate thread."

What does prestige refer to here? And I would really appreciate if you explain the meaning of the whole sentence in other words/

Prestige TV is television of a higher quality than usual. The Sopranos was considered an exceptional series and better than the usual stuff on TV. It had prestige (admiration and respect for it's high quality). Not sure exactly what the sentence means, but it is saying that The Sopranos was blacked out, or not shown, at some point, and people went to social media to complain, creating threads of messages that expressed hate for this happening.

prestige TV = high-quality television dramas with large budgets and famous movie actors, which US television networks began to make in the late 1990s

The ending to the "prestige TV" show The Sopranos caused many people to post angry comments online. (The show ends suddenly without revealing whether the main character, Tony Soprano, is alive or dead. The last 30 seconds of the show is a black screen.)
