I would even say that the former is grammatically incorect :)

Hmm.. that depends. I am Spanish, but English is my native language. So, I am a Spanish native English speaker. :P
If you mean someone that speaks Spanish as their native language, then "native Spanish speaker" is best.

Thank you both! Another question: My Spanish language teacher is Mexican. Can I say he is a Mexican native Spanish teacher?

I'd say he is a Spanish teacher from Mexico.

Of course, I'm not a native English speaker (I'm only learning English), so it's much more better to listen to naeng.
However :) if you naeng are a Spanish native English speaker, why someone cannot be a Mexican native Spanish speaker? It's just another adjective.

It just sounds more natural to say it like that. Mexicans speak Spanish as a native language, so the extra information is redundant.
Also, the collocation "native teacher" sounds really strange to me. We normally say "native speaker."
Also, I wouldn't just discount the opinions of learners of English; they often know a lot more about why things are the way they are and can offer valuable insight (especially when it comes to grammar).. Natives just talk according to how everyone around them did as they grew up.. We're essentially just glorified parrots. :)
It's like that because.. uh.. well.. it *sounds* right. :S

I absolutely agree with you. I even hate english teachers and their useless grammar. I just wanted to talk with you :)

An unhealthy emphasis on grammar in foreign language classes is why you have Americans who take 4 years of Spanish that can't even hold basic conversations. (But they can tell you all the conjugations of the past subjunctive!)

Exactly the same is in my country and I guess in every country in the world. That's why I'm here.

I prefer to learn foreign language from rednecks than from the best teachers. They are just worse, and that's all :)

Thanks again, both of you! Yes, I was told before that "native teacher" sounds strange and I should say "native speaker." "My Spanish teacher is from Mexico." or "He is a Spanish teacher from Mexico" Maybe that's good enough :)
