- Does "kayo"(/ninyo/inyo) without "po" (referring to singular second person, not plural) sound still formal/polite within colleagues and friends? I learn that, "ka/ikaw" (mo/iyo) is "you" but it doesn't sound Polite language and Honorific expressions. If honorific, use "po kayo" according to my previous Tagalog tutor. However, some colleague told me "you can omit 'po' because we already know each other!" Since then, I always use "kayo" without "po" for those who I am already friendly with but still elder than me. Like, "Kumain na ba kayo?", "Okey, ilalagay ko kayo nito", "Ano ang sinabi ninyo sa akin?" I already omit "po" because "po kayo" sounds too honorific among already-friend relations. However, other one told me "Wao "kayo" daw! You're very formal!!" Although I didn't use "po" and use only "kayo", still formal daw. Do you think it really formal if I use "kayo" referring to the singular secondary person, even without "po"? If I take their opinions, even towards friends who are already friendly but elder, can I use "ka/ikaw"? (I don't think so, though). "We are your Ate!" daw...sabi nila.
