Bruise - If you bump your arm or leg on something, but you don't cut your skin open, that's a bruise. If it bleeds under the skin. Not a serious type of injury!.

Wound - If you cut yourself and you bleed, this is a wound. A serious type of injury - more serious than a bruise!

Examples:

2) The woman was in a car accident and her leg was wounded. She will have to have an operation.

You can also use these words in an 'emotional' sense, too! You can use them even if you're not physically hurt, but emotionally hurt. In this context, 'bruised' is still less severe than 'wounded'

フットボール選手は先週の試合で怪我をした。

この場合はおそらくアクシデントであり事故だと思われるのでinjuredがベストです。またフットボール選手の場合は骨折や打撲が多いですが、woundedを使うと皮膚が切れて血が出るようなものを連想させます。文章として間違いではありませんが、事実がどうだったかの問題につながります。
