When I saw the example sentence wrriten on my vocab book (and my first question), I guessed the meaning of "invoke" was like "to make people recall (someone/something)."
Because the book explains the meaning of the word is "to make something come to people's mind."
But from the sound of your explanatin, I think the book's explanation is a little off, or misleading.

So, my question is that which does "invoke" primaliry mean, "touching on something/someone" or "making people think about something/someone?"
